Sahara sand soon a useful resource?

NASA and ESA want to make building blocks for a lunar station from the moon dust directly on the moon. They want to use a 3D printer, which is currently being developed by various research teams. A research team from Europe wants to use the Sahara sand for building on earth. The desert sand is though structurally unsuitable for this purpose. The researchers want to change its structure through a simple and inexpensive process so that it can be used to prepare concrete.

Will Sahara be concreted? Do we soon see streets and cities emerge "out of nowhere"? Until then, the camel caravans will move on through the deserts of the earth.
